2019 Terroir Series Sauvignon Blanc
The Lightfoot & Wolfville Terroir Series is a collection of small-lot wines with a distinct sense of place. The label imagery reflects this theme and helps tell the story of the land where our Sauvignon Blanc grapes are grown. Dandelions, cow horns, and barn swallows represent our biodynamic growing practices, while apple blossoms represent the Annapolis Valley region and the wild apple trees that surround this vineyard.
This is a limited production, single-vineyard wine from just 1-acre of Sauvignon Blanc grown on our estate vineyard in Avonport, N.S – the “Oak Island Vineyard”. Grown along the mouth of the Gaspereau River, where fresh water meets the ocean and cool coastal breezes craft wines of great distinction.
Grapes were hand-harvested and hand-sorted to yield the highest quality juice. Sorted clusters were crushed, destemmed and cold soaked on their skins for 24-hours to enhance flavour extraction from the skins. Fermentation was with wild yeasts in old/neutral French oak barriques, followed by eight-months aging sur lie.

Medium pale-gold in colour. Bright, crisp and zesty with tactile acidity, crunchy herbaceous notes reminiscent of popcorn shoot, honeydew melon, green apple and hint of clove. Drinking beautifully now, this wine will continue to evolve over the next 3-5 years.
Suggested pairings include dishes with a high fat protein or lactic component such as buttered brussel sprouts, double cream Brie-style cheeses, Hollandaise sauce and butternut squash ravioli.
