2020 Ancienne Pinot Noir
Grown on the south-facing slopes of our estate vineyard in Avonport (Dijon clones 115, 667, 777, 828, planted in 2012); sheltered by Bay of Fundy breezes and born out of meticulous viticultural effort. The 2020 growing season surpassed previous records as our warmest growing season to date. Dry weather throughout the growing season meant that disease pressure was low. Yields were below average but fruit quality was exceptionally high; an especially great vintage for still wines.
Hand-harvested and hand-sorted on October 13th. Indigenous fermentation (20% whole cluster, 80% destemmed) was followed by 21-months aging in mostly used French oak (25% 500 L puncheon, 75% 225 L barrique - 12% new, 51% 3rd fill, 37% 4th fill +). Bottled September 21st 2022. Minimal sulphite addition just prior to bottling without sterile filtration.

Tasting Notes
Light ruby hue in the glass. On the nose, a classic Pinot perfume of red cherry, dried rose petal, wet gravel and clove. On the palate, bright red fruit flavours are framed by fine, silky tannin. An elegant, restrained style of Pinot Noir characterized by vibrancy and finesse.
Pairing suggestions include roast pork or poultry, richer fish such as salmon or tuna, white bean dishes and wild mushroom pasta.
