2022 Terroir Series Scheurebe
Highly aromatic with inviting primary fruit flavours, Scheurebe is a German grape variety; a cross of Riesling and a wild vine cross that is relatively rare in North America, with approximately ten acres planted across all of Canada.
Our three acres of estate-grown Scheurebe, the first and only planting in Nova Scotia, are located in Avonport in our biodynamic “Oak Island Vineyard”, where cool Minas Basin breezes produce unique aromatic whites with intense fruit character, salinity and bright acidity. The 2022 was hand-harvested on the 27th of October with 26% botrytis affected clusters providing a degree of further fruit concentration. Fermentation was slow and long in stainless steel with wild yeasts, adding layers of complexity and nuance.
