2022 Terroir Series Gamay
From a single, one acre block of estate-grown Gamay Noir, hand-harvested from the organic and biodynamic Oak Island Vineyard in Avonport. Grown along the shores of the Minas Basin, where cool breezes moderate our growing environment, creating distinct wines with a strong sense of place, freshness and tidal influence.
In the cellar, we aim to allow this wine to express itself naturally with minimal intervention. Fermentation was 70% whole cluster with carbonic maceration and natural yeasts. Pressed with a traditional Marzola basket press and aged seven months in stainless steel with a full malolactic fermentation prior to bottling without sterile filtration.

A deep ruby hue in the glass. On the nose, notes of dark fruit such as black mulberry shine, with earthy and floral undertones reminiscent of crushed herbs and fresh violet. The vibrant fruit notes carry over to the palate with white pepper accents and a mineral-laden backbone. Light-bodied with relatively low alcohol and moderate tannins providing a velvety smooth texture. Bright, yet balanced, with ample freshness and length.
Best served slightly chilled. Pairing suggestions include roasted chicken, grilled salmon, charcuterie, mushroom-based dishes and tomato based pastas.
