2022 Ancienne Pinot Noir
Ancienne is a faithful, living record of our terroir - exceptional single vineyard wines grown in some of the Annapolis Valley’s finest vineyard sites. The Ancienne Pinot Noir is grown on the south-facing slopes of our organic and biodynamic estate vineyard - the “Oak Island Vineyard” in Avonport, sheltered by Bay of Fundy breezes and born out of meticulous viticultural effort. Canopy management practices in this block include cluster thinning, leaf thinning and shoot positioning, all done by hand, to maximize ripening and flavour development.
The 2022 growing season was the warmest in three years, providing excellent conditions for our still wines especially. The warmer vintage lends this wine a richness of fruit and depth on the palate, making it perhaps our most weighted Pinot Noir to date.
Hand-harvested and hand-sorted on October 21st. Wild fermentation (20% whole cluster) was followed by 21- months aging in mostly used French oak.

Tasting Notes
A vibrant ruby red hue in the glass. The nose reveals rich cherry, wild strawberry and dried rose petal notes with subtle toasty-smoky hints. On the palate, supple red fruit flavours are complemented by a refined tension between refreshing acidity and fine, silky tannins. A touch of salinity on the mid-palate leads to a long, elegant finish. A cool-climate Pinot Noir that displays both brightness and depth.
Pairing suggestions include herb-roasted duck breast or grilled salmon, seared tuna with a light soy glaze, creamy polenta with wild mushrooms, or a savoury lentil and root vegetable stew.
