2021 Small Lot Riesling Pétillant Naturel
Many, if not most, of the wines in our Small Lot series are one-off experiments, inspired by the unique set of conditions - and ultimately, flavours - that each individual growing season gives us. The Small Lot Riesling Pétillant Naturel (“pét-nat”) is a notable exception to this rule, cementing itself, over the past several years, as our favourite bubbly to toast the arrival of spring with. A fitting role, given its joyful spritz and exuberant primary fruit character.
Crafted from 100% Riesling clusters harvested from the biodynamic Lightfoot Home Farm Vineyard on November 6th, the 2021 was whole-cluster pressed and racked to stainless steel tank for wild primary fermentation. Bottled on March 17th 2022, following a long, four months of primary fermentation, which continued in bottle, creating a gentle, natural effervescence without the addition of yeasts or sugar. This wine has been left unfined, unfiltered and undisgorged, resulting in a natural haze due to the intact yeast sediment.

Cloudy lemon hue with a light, lively spritz. The nose is generously complex with an expressive peachy, apricot stone-fruit core, with a savoury, leesy bread dough side. Dry, yet juicy, and mouth-watering - the ideal wine to begin an evening with or to complement a festive brunch.
